Want a first-hand account of what it really feels (and looks!) like when you have your brows tattooed or microbladed? Here we take you behind the scenes – we’ve recorded an entire treatment here with one of our clients, who has very kindly written about her experience here too!

Deciding to get a cosmetic tattoo was not a decision I took lightly. I spent hours doing research and scrolling before and afters online before making the leap, but as soon I stepped into Lady Lash’s impeccably clean, watermelon scented salon I knew I was in safe hands!

Here is the step by step process of my cosmetic tattoo experience…

Step One: Consultation and numbing
I was greeted at reception by their tattoo artist Noush who took me through to begin the consultation and treatment. Noush was incredibly friendly and made me feel instantly comfortable. Once I was in the treatment room we began discussing in depth what look I was wanting to achieve.
My brows are naturally quite thick, but have a few gaps or sparse patches that need to be filled in. I showed her photos of how I normally draw my brows and was adamant on wanting something natural looking that would roughly follow the natural shape of my brows and not look out of place when I’m not wearing makeup.

Noush listened intently and assured me I wouldn’t leave looking like Oscar the Grouch. She then applied the numbing cream (which I had acquired myself earlier from a compounding pharmacy was left on for about 20 minutes.

Step Two: Measure and drawing your brows
I sat in one of the chairs while Noush meticulously measured and outlined my new brows. We stopped occasionally so I could see how they looked and make slight adjustments. She uses a special eyebrow measurement instruments to make sure they are even and also placed correctly for the shape of my face. This took about 15-20 minutes and at the end the shape was perfect!

Step Three: Tattoo
Noush mixed up a custom blend of pigment and we began. Microblading works by using a handheld tattoo ‘pen’ and small lines are etched onto the skin implanting pigment to mimic natural hair strokes. This process is repeated a few times and then the brows are ‘masked’ with pigment and left for about 5 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised by how relatively painless it was. Some areas are a little more sensitive than others, but overall very bearable and not nearly as painful as I had braced myself for.

Step Four: Aftercare
After the treatment Noush ran through some aftercare with me and I was advised I can’t soak them for 2 weeks, or exercise heavily in the next week, amongst a few other things. I was also given an aftercare pack containing a pamphlet of information, a little pot of cream to use daily, and some special wipes that I was told to use every 20 minutes for the next 2 hours to wipe away any ‘weeping’ which will help with minimising scabbing.

Step Five: The Healing Process
Waking up on the first day the colour had darkened quite a bit, but I was told the pigment will be much darker at first until it heals over. Over the next couple of days my brows became a bit flakey and a little itchy but I followed all the aftercare advice and tried to avoid picking or scratching them. I did notice the colour gradually fading but this is normal as the true colour reveals itself after the healing process. A touch up appointment is done between 4-6 weeks after the initial treatment to retouch any spots that were missed or any places where the pigment didn’t take.

Results
So far I am absolutely loving my brows and how natural they look. I’ve been receiving
lots of complements on how I look, but no one can seem to put their finger on what it is! They are almost PERFECT – I’ll be having a minor retouch in a few weeks time – and then after this, standard retouches will be needed between 1-2 years, depending on how well my skin retains the pigment.
