We feel that two appointments are necessary to create fantastic, long-lasting brows and lips, particularly for the combination and hair-stroke methods. In the first appointment, a shape is established, colour saturation occurs, or the first set of hair-stokes. We do not go with a pigment that is too dark or over saturate in the first appointment – it is important that the pigment is built up, to avoid it healing too dark if it heals a little darker than expected. We will always veer towards under-doing it than overdoing it – as it is relatively simple to thicken or darken a tattoo at the retouch, whereas lightening it is incredibly difficult.

The second/adjustment appointment is to reinforce the pigment (fill any spots where colour did not take as well, or where hair-strokes faded, as they can do), often using a slightly darker colour, to give a more realistic, 3D appearance. For eyeliner, minor swelling can occur, and a second appointment is needed to make minor shape adjustments to complete the final look, or to create more defined wings. Sometimes, however, it is not. You don’t have to come to you second appointment if you feel it’s unnecessary and you are happy with the result after your initial treatment. However, we highly recommend it – your brows and lip tattoo will last longer if you come in a second time and have the pigment reinforced. We want you to be walking around with the best set of brows that we can give you – and ones that last a reasonably good length of time!

Lip tattoo almost always takes two sessions, and in some cases three (where a highly pigmented/more lipstick-like effect is desired). Due to the way lips heal and that there will be some unavoidable exposure to moisture, oils and acids during healing (when eating) the pigment does not retain entirely after just one session.
