The cosmetic tattoo procedure (often referred to as permanent makeup) involves depositing pigment into the skin, using a small pen-style machine which rapidly inserts small quantities of the appropriate colour pigment progressively in the required area with the expertise of a competent and skilled professional. The idea is to create the effect of makeup (more in the case of eyeliner), or naturally full looking eyebrows. Treatments available at Lady Lash are eyebrow tattoo (powder fill, hair stroke, nano brows, combination brows and microblading) as well as eyeliner tattoo and lip blush tattoo. The pigment remains in the skin indefinitely – although the colour gradually fades over a few years, requiring retouching every 18 months or so to maintain the shape and colour.
It is a semi-permanent procedure; however it does last for a long time – so should be viewed as fairly permanent, and not something that can be easily changed season to season.
The pigments that we use (in particular for brow tattoo) are more muted, subtle tones, designed to sit softly in the skin and once healed, don’t stand out harshly against it, unlike the bold primary commonly shades used in body art tattoo. However, the process is similar, in that a needle is used to implant pigment into the skin, where it remains for a long period of time.
