Yes, very. The cosmetic tattoo machine is one of the most hygienic available, a small, pen-like device that uses completely disposable parts. All machine parts/needles (anything that comes into contact with clients) are brand new, sterile and sealed single use items. Our salon is clean, hygienic and compliant with all Department of Health Regulations for Skin Penetration. All of our tattooists hold government accredited certifications in infection control.
Allergic reactions to the pigments are incredibly rare. The pigments brands used are trusted, long-established USA and German-made brands that we have relied upon for many years. We do not use newly launched pigments, nor samples we are sent – we wait until the pigments are widely in use and we can see before and afters of healed results from other artists before we use any new pigment.
In regard to patch tests, they can be arranged, and are recommended if you are concerned/have had prior allergies to any kind of tint/dye/tattoo pigment, or cosmetic product. However, – as an allergic reaction can sometimes show after 2 weeks, but sometimes 5-10 years later (this can be due to hormones/medications or simply unknown) a patch test can be rather ineffective. Most clients do not request a patch test. To date, we have not had anyone experience an allergic reaction to any cosmetic tattoo we have completed over the past 10 years.
